Primary Purpose:
The Shipping and Cooler Superintendent is responsible for leading and coordinating all daily operations within the Shipping and Cooler departments. This role ensures that people, processes, and resources are aligned to meet established goals for product quality, order fulfillment, efficiency, and safety. The Superintendent drives continuous improvement, maintains regulatory compliance, and supports a high‑performing, collaborative team environment.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Operational Planning & Staffing:
    Develop weekly staffing plans and order‑fulfillment strategies to ensure accurate, on‑time shipments. Lead the implementation of SOPs and GPPs to support consistent, efficient operations.

  • Quality, Food Safety & Compliance: 
    Ensure all product quality and packaging specifications are met. Identify trends, defects, or deviations and implement corrective actions. Train and coach team members on food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and USDA requirements.

  • Performance Metrics & Continuous Improvement: 
    Monitor and drive key departmental metrics including BPMH, Cost/lb., PPMH, and A‑Grade %. Partner with leadership to develop improvement plans that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen overall performance.

  • People Leadership & HR Responsibilities :
    Support a safe, positive, and compliant work environment. Oversee Kronos and Fusion activity, manage attendance and disciplinary processes, and ensure all safety and certification training is completed on time. Promote accountability, teamwork, and professional development.

Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Agriculture, Operations Management, Business, or related field).
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience, including leadership of multiple departments; experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Poultry or food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with financial analysis in an operations setting, including Agristats.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety programs, and USDA regulations related to sanitation and pre‑operations.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex workflows, and maintain high standards in a fast‑paced production environment.
