Primary Purpose: The Cage Repair Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining Live Haul chicken cages and supporting routine maintenance within the Live Holding Shed. This position also serves as a Fill‑In Weighmaster as needed to ensure smooth, accurate, and safe Live Haul operations.
Schedule:
3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Occasional Saturdays based on operational needs.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform Cage Repairs — Inspect, diagnose, and repair Live Haul cages using proper tools, welding techniques, and materials.
Conduct Routine Maintenance — Support general upkeep of the Live Holding Shed, including unplanned or emergency maintenance tasks.
Fill‑In Weighmaster Duties:
Operate truck scales and accurately record weights.
Verify load documentation and ensure accuracy of records.
Communicate with Live Haul drivers and supervisors to maintain efficient flow.
Follow all biosecurity and safety protocols.
Ensure Safety Compliance — Use required PPE, follow all safety procedures, and immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents.
Maintain Work Quality — Complete all repairs and weighmaster tasks to company standards to support animal welfare, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.
Support Team Operations — Assist with additional duties as assigned to support Live Haul operations.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
2–5 years of related work experience in maintenance, repair, or industrial operations.
Basic welding knowledge and ability to perform minor welding tasks.
Valid forklift license (or ability to obtain one upon hire).
Ability to learn and perform Weighmaster duties accurately and efficiently.
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with exposure to live poultry, outdoor conditions, and varying temperatures.
Reliable, safety‑focused, and able to follow established procedures.
